Technical Requirements
As an online course you will need to have a computer with regular access to the Internet. A smartphone or tablet device may be an option for you if you are working on-the-go however do try to find a comfortable working space for the bulk of your work. You can access the course as easily at home as you do at work, as it is not tethered to a single device. This means you can be flexible, working around your teaching commitments.
Skill Requirements
You will need only basic to moderate computer skills to do this course. You will also need to be able to navigate your way around an iPad.
However be aware if you do have difficulty using a computer because of physical ailments, sight issues, or difficulty using (for example) keyboards you need only remember to give yourself more time and to rest often.
Navigating This Course
This course is designed to be completed in sequential order, to slowly build up experience in several areas of what is an extremely large concept. I highly recommend you journey through the modules in the order they are presented to you.
Progress through the modules in the order presented. You can continue if you are not interested in completing a particular activity. You can come back to it.
Apps that can be Used Across the Curriculum
Whether you're taking this course as a sequel to the first 10 Must Have Apps course, or independently, this course will give you a foundation from which to begin your tablet journey and you will be on the way to becoming a 21st Century educator.
Writing, Note-taking & Annotating Apps
By the end of this topic you will be able to use the following apps: Sling Note, Notability, Scribble Press and Bookmaker and know how to use these apps in an educational context.
Collaboration Apps
Upon completion of this topic, participants will have learned how to use collaboration or sharing apps , developed ideas for how to integrate collaboration apps inside every day lessons, and understand how students can use these apps to collaborate, for peer tutoring, sharing ideas, and to demonstrate learning.
Art & Creative Apps
The iPad can be a powerful tool for art making and creativity in the classroom (and beyond). Students are able to engage with content in interactive ways, find information in an instant, take photos, and create their own imagery anywhere, anytime. Using digital devices makes this process more accessible than ever; and makes all sorts of artistic and creative tools accessible to the user like never before.
Quiz Creating Apps
Upon completing this topic, participants will be able to: identify a variety of quiz making apps that they can use in the classroom, gain knowledge about how to use quiz making apps in an educational context and understand how their students can use these apps to do and present their classroom work.
